Poetry spanning 80 years by 97-year-old writer Vergie Papalexis. She took a moment to answer some questions about her third book “The Hands of Time” with David Brady.
Onward to Mexico
Traveling to Mexico was a family tradition. We visited Mexico at least once a year during the summer up until I was about 15. It was something that I always looked forward to all year not just because of all the family activities and short trips we would take within the region but because of how fun life was while there. I remember in the evening all the kids from the neighborhood would come to play on the street and we had a blast.
I Love Flying
The impact of the pandemic and my passion for flying and travel inspired me to make I Love Flying. I wanted to uplift the spirit of traveling and flying and shed some hope during those challenging times of the pandemic.
During the earlier stage of the pandemic, I took a voluntary leave and used that time to create this book. Before the pandemic, I started writing another book, but I set it aside and created this journal that I believe is more valuable. I turned adversity into an opportunity to create something good.

CUBA in the 1990's
“When I came to Cuba in 1995 it was immediately evident that I had stumbled into something very special. The reaction of the people, or should I say the non-reaction of the people on the street made them ideal for street photography.” - Michael Sykes.
